We often would have come across many of the situations where we are in a gathering thinking about a healthy, energetic time killing thing to do. Anything that can be played and enjoyed indoors with our family mates and friends and make every while worth it. There can be many indoor games for instance Mystery Word, Human Cluedo, Reverse Charades, and many more. But if you are looking for an indoor game and you have got a wide space around then certain table games will help you enjoy your time. Different table games are there such that; table tennis, Blackjack, Baccarat, snooker can be well-known examples.

This article will give you all a thorough detailed overview of one of the famous table games that are; Table tennis. Table tennis is also known by the name ping-pong and whiff-whaff.

Let’s begin with what it is?

Table tennis, a table ball game that is known with a trademark name as Ping Pong. It is played in a wide and open area. It is a ball game similar in principle to the tennis players on the lawns. You will get to see a long flat table which is divided into two courts. Both sides of the courts are divided equally sharing the same dimensions.

A net is fixed in the middle dividing the two courts just as same as that of the tennis that we play on our lawns. The game is all about aiming to hit the ball so that it goes over the net bouncing and hitting the flat surface of the table towards the opponent’s side. The ball is hit in such a way that the opponent cannot outstretch to hit it correctly in return.

Equipment

The little cute looking ball is used while playing Ping Pong is called a Ping Pong ball. It weighs about 2.7 grams having a diameter of 40 millimeters. The Ping Pong ball is supposed to be light in weight and also hollow from the center. The determination of the color of the ball is made upon the color of the table and the surroundings. For instance; if we use a white ball on a grey table then it would not be seen clearly. However, if the same color ball is used on a green or blue table one can see it easily during the play.

This light in weight ball is let fly to and fro all across the net anchored in the middle of the table by those small paddles or bats called rackets. The word ‘racket’ is used by ITTF, ‘Bat’ is used by Britain while ‘Paddle’ is common in Canada and the united states. These rackets are made up of laminated wood having a rubber material covering on each of the sides. The wooden part is named the ‘blade’. It is said by the ITTF regulations that the thickness of the blade should be made not less than 85 percent of the natural wood. The most well-known kinds of wood are balsa, limba, and hinoki also called cypress in Japan.

Sneak Peak To The Background History

This game is celebrated mostly all over the globe. It is organized as one of the competitive sport in many of the countries around. It is played for the most part in the European and Asian countries, especially in China and Japan. This game came into existence in the infancy of the 20th century in England and they named it Ping-Pong for a trademark.

In the year 1921 to 1922 people started naming it ‘Table Tennis’ when the classic Ping Pong Association was brought back to life. The primordial association had come to end in 1905 but as far as one knew the game was being played without any break in certain parts of England out of London. While when 1920 set in, it began to be played in many other countries as well. In 1926 Federation Internationale de Tennis de Table (International Table Tennis Federation) was established. The representatives of Germany, Hungary, and England were leading this federation. The establishing members were Sweden, England, Hungary, India, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Wales, and Austria.

World Championships

In the year 1926, the prime most world championships were held in London. And till the year 1939, the game was overlooked by the individuals of central Europe in which the team of the males from Hungary won nine times and two times by the players of Czechoslovakia. Asia dominated to be the breeding ground of champions in the middle of the years of 1950s. It was since then when the team of men has been won by China or Japan. Considering the women’s event to a lesser extent North Korea has become an international force besides.

The first World Cup took place in the year 1980 in which the first prize of 12,500 dollars was given to the Chinese player, Guo Yuehua.

In the year 1988, Ping Pong or table tennis got its space in the Olympic sports having doubles and singles competitions for both males and females.

The Match

A match possesses the best of the odd numbers of games. When a player wins after reaching 11 points or the one who gets 10 points, scores 2 straight ahead. When good service is made by the server then a point is scored. When one of the players does not make a good mark in returning the service, the services change hands. Or even when one of the players performs a specific infraction for example; if he or she touches the surface of the table tennis with the hand that is not in the play while the ball is rolling then the service changes hands.

The services change hands until all 10 is reached and that past every two scorings. A point is gained when an opponent bumps the ball with the side of the racket blade, the side whose surface is not covered with rubber.

CHARACTERISTICS TO BECOME A PRO AT TABLE TENNIS

As long as we know about competitive sports, Table Tennis or Ping Pong is not ranked that high on the list of physically demanding sports and games. On account of this, many people believe that no decent player needs to have physical training that is; working out. They think that you need not go out of your homes spending hours in the gym working out. However, I say that if you want to be considered a great player of table tennis then you will need to spare some time and energy to work out.

Although, it depends upon the matter of interest of a subject. To be called a professional player or if you dream to be one of those great table tennis players, you ought to make time once a week to visit the gym.

LET’S DIVIDE ALL THOSE TRAITS IN FOUR:`

§ Endurance

§ Power

§ Coordination

§ Strength

Exploring all these four traits will aid in bringing out the true Table Tennis player.

ENDURANCE:

We do not say that playing table tennis demands as much endurance as marathon running. That means that the players of Ping Pong or table tennis do not require the same endurance training that the marathon runners need. But keeping in mind the fact that table tennis games often get rough and lasts longer than a person can expect.

For the table tennis players, you can train your endurance by cycling, running, biking once a week. You also can work out with some aerobic and endurance exercises. Hence the more time served with endurance training the better your endurance would be.

POWER:

Do not be like the players who neglect their legs over arms and muscles. For a good table tennis player, it is important to consider the importance of stronger legs. Ever watched Chinese professional players? They seem not less than a well-lubricated functioning machine that works perfectly fine. They possess the true combo of power and efficiency. Working out and building the specific muscles of the arms is a waste of time. The most important component of strength training is to know how to make your body work efficiently without wasting energy.

Cutting it short, if you go watching a table tennis match, observe if a player hit some powerful throws across the net and moves unchallenging, you are watching some great and amazing players using their techniques of efficacy.

COORDINATION:

Some players innately have the aspect of coordination. And this natural availability of coordination aids in making the game way easier for them. Such as getting the sense of timing, having a good hold over challenging aspects of the game. You can master coordination my learning even. All you need to do is to train yourself for it just like everything else.

Different studies reveal that children who play many different types of sports will develop into the best athletes. It is because they would be well trained already.

STRENGTH:

Hitting the last section of finally! Table tennis is not a sit-on-your-cheeks type of game, it is undoubtedly a physically demanding game. It is a one-sided game, you have to make movements repeatedly by one side of your body, be it your hands or legs. Mostly the upper part of your body is stronger compared to the lower half no matter if you are a lefty or right-handed player. This type of imbalance may cause damage to your body if not in the present but the later years. Hence you need not sit still without directing the matter to the concern for the better cure before the damage takes place.

The most convenient way of addressing such type of issues can be made through strength training. Your body needs time to be strengthened from the parts that do not play dominantly during the game. If you are a left-handed table tennis player then you must have to make time gyming in strengthening the right hand of your body. You always need to make efforts for equality, be it gender equality or your body!

FINAL WORDS

After a long discussion made above, let me conclude my topic regarding Ping Pong; Game of classics that I named it with, it will not be wrong to call it so. It holds a rich history of many champions all over the globe and many tournaments held in the past years make it one classic of many classic games around. It is fun, it brings out the champ within you, play it on!
